When you are travelling with kids and have a few hours before boarding the plane, the best place to hang out will be Plaza Premium Lounge where you can enjoy food, drinks and even shower and sleep for a few hours.  How wonderful is that?

Special thanks to the arrangement of the Marketing Team of Plaza Premium Lounge Singapore Pte Ltd, my family was able to enjoy a 3 hrs media access to the lounge just before we board our plane to Thailand, Chiang Mai.

You won't need to worry about checking your flight details because there are television monitors inside the lounge that show the flight arrivals and departure timings.  Next to the monitors are racks of magazines and newspapers where you can read at your leisure while relaxing in the Plaza Premium Lounge.

The 7,000-squate foot lounge, designed with warm earth tones, provides convenience, comfort and value to all travellers regardless of their choice of airline or class of travel.

Just take a look at the different type of seats available which you can choose.  In addition, the lounge also offers three private resting suites, six shower rooms with amenities (one of which is wheelchair-friendly), two VIP rooms, massage and nail care services.  The lounge can accommodate up to 150 persons at one time.

Seats that are suitable if you have a family or a group using the lounge facilities
Seats suitable for if you just want to relax over some books, magazines and newspapers
Suitable if you are a sole traveller and wants to do some work on the go.
Great if you want to grab some quick bites before your flight
The kids wanted a glass of apple and orange juice each to start off their experience in the Plaza Premium Lounge.

Besides juices, travellers also get to enjoy alcohol and wine, although these are chargeable.

It's always great to have some chips and nuts to go with drinks for a relaxing moment.

For coffee lovers, you are well taken care of too with a trusty coffee machine.

You can have the different choices of coffee based on your likes.

For the tea lovers, you can also enjoy a cup of tea with a good selection from Dilmah.

Choose from the wide array of teas available
You also get to enjoy apple and orange juices on top of milk if you prefer these.

For those who prefer canned drinks, there is a wide selection from soft drinks to non carbonated ones, all refrigerated to keep them cold.

To kickstart and fuel up your day, travellers get to savour delectable selections at its all-day dining spread with signature dishes such as Singapore Laksa and classic Singapore Chicken Rice.  Travellers can also enjoy an interactive airport dining experience, where the chef will freshly prepare made-to-order dishes in front of you at the live-cooking counters.

As our flight was early in the morning, the food available are mostly for breakfast.

Porridge for easy digestion
Mushroom soup to warm the tummy
If you prefer for someone to prepare your breakfast, you can also order the All Day Breakfast set available from 6am to 11am.

I ordered a set each for my two boys and they loved it!

I went for the laksa which was freshly prepared on the spot.

My little boy Rayes insisted on feeding me breakfast... hahaha!

The boys enjoyed the food so much that this was the first time I see them eat a lot without prompting from me.  If only, I can bring them here for breakfast everyday, then I won't have to keep pushing them to eat breakfast at home... hahaha!

Pardon the messy table but I just wanted to enjoy my piping hot laksa before it turned cold.

Overall, it was a wonderful relaxing experience in the Plaza Premium lounge as we enjoyed our breakfast before boarding the plane.  With the complimentary Wi-Fi and charging stations, I managed to stay connected online as well.

I am glad that my two boys enjoyed the experience too, looking at their happy faces.

If you want to enjoy some quiet time before boarding your flight, you may want to consider Plaza Premium Lounge located at Level 3, Departure/Transit Lounge West, Terminal 1 of Singapore Changi Airport.  It is opened 24 hours daily so you don't have to worry about the schedule.

Thanks Plaza Premium Lounge for the wonderful hosting!

When I received the media invite to Plaza Premium Group’s newest dining addition , TGM, which features a new concept of JAKO – a term derived from the cuisine offered: Japanese & Korean fusion, I immediately said 'YES' as I was curious how Japanese and Korean food can be fused together to create a spectrum of JAKO fusion while respecting the flavour, plating and ingredients.

At the same time, as I wanted to check TGM out to see if it is worthwhile spending money and time on the food if I were to travel out of Singapore from Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 2.

TGM didn't fail me.  TGM challenged the common perception of overpriced, poor quality airport food and lack of places to hang-out, and came out with quality food that is value for money while providing an alternate dining space for travellers.

You can choose to sit in the specially designed seating enclosure or at the regular tables or the counter where you can see the fresh sashimi on display while the chefs prepare the food right in front of you.

With 20 years of experience in various airport restaurants around the world with an expertise in Asian cuisines, Chef Woo Chee Kiang takes the helm at TGM. As the Head chef of Plaza Premium Group F&B operations in Singapore, he takes charge of product development and works closely with internal stakeholders and turn the passion for great cuisine in airports and concept of JAKO into reality.

Now for some food porn...

For appetizers, we had the following:

Grilled Oyster with Mentai Mayo S$24
This was my favorite amongst the appetizers.  The oysters were very fresh and succulent.  The mentai mayo went extremely well with the oysters as it provided a savoury taste to the oysters.

We also had two more appetizers as shown below.

Botan Shrimp S$14

Tuna Otoshi S$20
These ingredients for these two dishes are simply so fresh... no doubt about it.

For side dishes, we had Jap Kushi Yaki, comprising of the following:

Grilled Bacon Enoki Mushroom Roll Skewer S$9
Grilled Chicken Wings Skewer S$9
Grilled Shiitake Mushroom Skewer S$7
These grilled stuff are super yummy and since they are grilled, they are not oily at all.  My personal favourite is the grilled shiitake mushroom skewer.

Another side dish served was the Maki Mariwase.  It was very interesting because of the colourful rolls that greeted us and we wondered how the colour came about and found out that it was due to the beetroot and squid ink.

Just take a look at the photos below.  Very unique right?

California Maki S$14
Beetroot and Crab Meat Mari S$14
Squid Ink Mari S$14

Diners can choose from a range of main courses like the following:

Beef Shogayaki S$22
The Korean Spicy Noodles is served in special spicy soup topped with kimchi, sausage, luncheon meat and sliced Kurobuta pork.
Korean Spicy Noodles S$16
Sashimi Jap Set S$25
Tempura Jap Set S$22
For the Salmon Butter Yaki Set, it was pan-fried salmon cooked with butter yaki sauce.  I chose this set because I love fish!

Salmon Butter Yaki S$22

And oh boy, it was done just nice... soft on the inside but crisp on the outside.  I loved the sauce too as it was sweet, salty and fragrant.

As for dessert, we had the TGM Patbingsu.

This is a great dessert for everyone as there are fruits, ice-cream and even pocky sticks and Korean-style shaved ice at the bottom.  Basically, it caters to everyone's preferences.

Overall, it was a great media food tasting session and best of all, now I know that I can hang out here before my boarding time.

Located on Level 3 in Terminal 2 of Singapore Changi Airport, TGM operates from 6am to 1am daily with seating capacity of about 120 people. Ala carte menu prices starts from S$6.00, reservations can be made directly with TGM through phone 6546 1928.

Give it a try if you are boarding a plane in Terminal 2.  I would definitely be back.

The sweet boss of Nailz Treats texted me recently to drop by Vanity at Nailz Treats located at Bedok Mall, #B1-56 to try out their latest eyelash extensions using only 0.07mm, much thinner than the ones which I had on previously and yet the eyelashes would still look voluminous and fluttery.

As I would be travelling overseas since and having eyelash extensions will be much easier for me than to stick false eyelashes everyday, I was definitely going for this eyelash extensions to see the difference.

The eyelash extensions were glued onto my original lashes so the process will take a while.  Hence if you are looking at eyelash extensions, do set some time free and don’t set another appointment after your eyelash extensions, just in case the beauty therapist need more time.

Take a look at the before and after photo of eyelash extensions.  So much difference right?  It is going to be more convenient when I travel overseas in a few days time.  I won’t need to bring along my false eyelashes and eylash glue in my makeup kit and spend time in the morning putting on the false eyelashes.

Before eyelash extensions

After eyelash extensions

After a few times of eyelash extensions, I already have in mind what I wanted – longer eyelash extensions at the outer corners of the eyes, shorter eyelash extensions at the inner corner of the eyes to give my eyes a more elongated and sexier look.

Besides eyelash extensions, I also did my gelish manicure and pedicure at Nailz Treats.  Since Christmas is approaching, the manicurists decided to do a Christmas theme for my nailart design.

I really admire the manicurists for painstakingly draw out the designs on my nails. They need to be very meticulous in each stroke to get the design out on a tiny nail space.  I will die if I were to do that.

Can you spot the cute snowman and the reindeer on both my thumbs and the snowflakes on two of my fingers?  So cute right?

My Xmas theme gelish manicure

My feet were in for a treat as the manicurist scrubbed away my dead skin and cut all the dead cuticles away before painting the toenails with a Xmas theme too.

I love to do my manicure and pedicure in Nailz Treats as I get to sit on the massage chair and get a good back rub while beautifying my nails, without any extra cost at all.

2016 is almost over and besides celebrating Christmas, December is extremely important as my eldest son, Kaiser’s birthday falls on 14 Dec.  He has been looking forward to this important day ever since his little brother, Rayes celebrated his birthday in Oct this year.

For this year, Kaiser requested for a different theme for his birthday cake… no longer Thomas and Friends anymore but this time round, it is Captain America theme birthday cake.  Captain America is his latest hero and thank goodness for that because for the last few years, he only wanted Thomas and Friends theme birthday cake.

The lucky boy got a cake sponsorship from Baking District this year and he got his dream come true.

His favourite idol, Captain America!

Thanks so much Baking District for kindly sponsoring a birthday cake for Kaiser!  Baking District is run by a culinary student, Natalie, who is a self taught baker for the last 5 years.

Not many people can run a business and study at the same time, yet Natalie is able to do so at a young age.

Baking District is on social media with IG handle @bakingdistrictzxc and www.facebook.com/bakingdistrict96 where you can view some of her masterpieces.  She can bake and customize cakes, cookies, brownies and many more yummy baked stuff so if you want to make any enquiries or orders, please text her at 9171 9014 (no calls please).

Natalie was extremely sweet that she drew a picture of the cake which she wanted to bake for , together with the Captain America fondant figurine and emailed me to see if I like it before she proceed further.  My heart was filled with so much gratefulness when I saw the picture and I knew that Kaiser would love it.

Kaiser’s first reaction when he saw the figurine was, “Hey, that’s me as Captain America!”  he was so happy when he saw the cake that he jumped up and down saying that the figurine looked just like him… lol.

When the kids saw the cake with the Captain America fondant figurine topping, all of them grasped out with excitement.

The chocolate cake tasted awesome, with an amazingly soft sponge and smooth buttercream.  The sweetness was just nice too.  Seriously, you would go for a second helping if you tried the cake.

When I asked the kids if the cake was good, one of them said, "No, it was excellent!"  Hahaha... so cute right?

Afterwhich, Kaiser said the cake was amazing while the other two friends said it was fantastic and nice.  Kids nowadays are so good in their English that they can use all the 'chim' words to describe the cake.  I was so impressed by all of them.

If you have any celebrations coming up, please kindly support Natalie in her baking business by ordering your next cake or baked stuff from her.  Remember to text her at 9171 9014 (no calls please) for enquiries or orders.

Thanks Natalie for making Kaiser happy on his birthday this year!
