It is always enjoyable to attend UNIQLO launches as I get first hand information on the fashion trends as seen on the designs from UNIQLO.  This is a brand of Fast Retailing Co., Ltd., a leading global Japanese retail holding company that designs, manufactures and sells clothing under seven main brands: Comptoir des Cotonniers, GU, Helmut Lang, J Brand, Princesse tam.tam, Theory, and UNIQLO.
As an image consultant, it is very important for me to keep abreast of the latest fashion updates so that I can better recommend my participants where they can buy clothes for the various occasions.

Thanks to UNIQLO(Singapore) and Word of Mouth Communications, I was invited to a cozy and intimate session to preview the latest UNIQLO LifeWear Spring/Summer 2017!

I was also very lucky to have Weiling, PR Manager of UNIQLO(Singapore), who went through each collection under the LifeWear Spring/Summer 2017.  She patiently ran through all the collections available with me during the media preview so that I could have a better understanding with regards to the thoughts behind each collection.  Thanks so much, Weiling!

I have picked a set each from two collections to showcase in my IG and I got a comment from a friend saying that his wife saw the IG photo of me holding the blue jacket and she loved it so much that he is going to buy one for her.  How sweet is that!

UNIQLO SPORT

This line incorporates the features of sportswear in everyday apparel to make clothing functional and fashionable. This season, Uniqlo has expanded the lineup to encompass a wider range of sports that helps enhance athletic performance.

Women can expect an injection of strong and vivid colours via new Dry EX garments (previously only available for Men) which are both functional and fashionable. The Sports Bra has also been updated based on customer feedback and now comes with removable cups.

New this season for both Men and Women is the Dry EX Ultra Stretch range. This has been developed in conjunction with Toray for the Spring/Summer 2017 collection. Toray is also the partner for UNIQLO's signature line of AIRism and HEATTECH garments.

AIRism

AIRism has become the new normal in innerwear for its lightness, smoothness and outstanding performance.

For this season, Uniqlo responded to ongoing consumer feedback by adding deodorant functionality to the women's (AIRism bratops excluded) and Kids' ranges.

LifeWear Wardrobe

This collection showcases a range of simple, quality items that reflect a complete attention to detail and match diverse requirements, from our Clean and Casual lines to our Active or Relax offerings. LifeWear is the fruit of an ongoing quest to make clothing more relevant and enjoyable in the lifestyles of everyone from babies through adults.

DENIM

Jeans are synonymous with LifeWear. They are integral to the lifestyles of people of all ages, genders, nations, and backgrounds, and are an enduring element of music, art, sport and other aspects of culture.

In order to cater to the growing needs of customers, new garment processing methods such as distressing was introduced. Wear them distressed or untouched, the choices are endless!

Stretch Skinny Fit Jeans with 360o stretch technology makes its debut this season! Men can also look forward to other newly launched styles such as Regular and Stretch Skinny Fits with damaged finishes. Women can remain stylish with all new High Rise Cropped Jeans as well as Ultra Stretch Jeans with cutoffs which accentuate leg lines and are season appropriate for a casual day out.

Uniqlo U

At Uniqlo Paris R&D center, the global design team − led by Christophe Lemaire − is reinventing basics to be anything but basic. Clothing that transcends trends and becomes an ideal expression of who we are. Every form made for function. Every element endlessly considered. Every design thoughtfully deconstructed, tested and distilled to its most essential and sophisticated.

UT

UTs (UNIQLO T-shirts) have become central to UNIQLO's LifeWear approach by emotionally engaging with people. Their internationally beloved content simply and directly conveys the individuality and moods of wearers. NIGO, the UT Creative Director, leverages his passion and expertise to make UT the standard for T-shirts featuring select pop culture icons from around the globe.

In its 10th season, UT returns to its art roots by featuring graphics from such leading talents as ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONIST FUTURA and André Saraiva. The UT range also includes the beautifully joyous patterns of ÉPICE DESIGN, deepening its role as a vehicle for pop culture enjoyment.

INES DE LA FRESSANGE

This season's collection is inspired by the scenery of Marseilles, a French gateway to international trade and backdrop to famed motion picture Borsalino. The new lineup showcases the remixing of styles that is quintessentially Ines, combining gradations of her signature indigo with on-trend berry accents for styling that is at once nostalgic and fresh in sunshine and sea breezes.

The collection is set to launch in two batches on 27 Jan17 and 24 Feb17.

Contemporary womenswear label d.d collective launches its first international boutique in Singapore, at Robinsons The Heeren. The designer ready-to-wear label will make its debut with the brand’s Fall/Winter 2016 collection.

I was very lucky to be invited by d.d collective and Bolt Industries to the media launch of d.d collective, a new-to-market label defined by directional design, premium fabrications and in-house expertise.

Founded in 2015, the womenswear brand has quickly established itself as the go-to brand for directional yet wearable styles for the strong, confident woman. Tapping on premium fabrics and unique prints as starting points for all its collections, each d.d collective look is proudly crafted in-house — from mood board to design, pattern-making and garment construction to the finishing touches. This ethically-minded, vertically-integrated process, a rarity in ready-to-wear fashion, ensures exceptional value and quality, and an impeccable attention to detail.

I had the chance to try out some of the pieces and boy, I am so in love with them!

Take a look at the two sets of apparels I tried that evening.  What do you think of them?

love the play of colour contrast

It is actually a two piece set hence you can mix and match with other pieces too

A romantic lacy dress with peek-a-boo effect

Seeking inspiration globally, d.d collective sources fabrications from across Europe and Asia. These stand- out materials are then transformed into intelligent designs versatile enough for the boardroom, bar or lunch with the ladies. Think 24/7 styling options that feature sharp silhouettes, for endless sartorial possibilities.

At d.d collective, the creative process is a collaborative effort. Rather than the product of any individual, it is a brand that stems from a formidable collective of designers, clothiers and other industry veterans, joining forces to produce inventive, accessible womenswear that stands the test of time.

d.d collective FW2016

Inspired by Portland-based photographer, Delaney Allen, whose affinity for depth and composition is evident in his Surrealist images, the Fall/Winter 2016 collection delves into a mix of lace, satin and contrasting prints, crafted from a medley of lush fabrics like jacquard, silk and double- faced crepe.

A cool colour palette of aquatic blues and greens is set against brights like yellow and chartreuse, combined to create contemporary street-cool looks perfect for all occasions.

A new take on the colour- blocking trend, Fall/Winter sees the inventive mash-ups of fabrics such as a printed car coat with detachable lace trim; or a cotton wrap-around shirt with organza panels.

Signature details reign, with draped detailing adding a sensuous twist to a girlish lace sheath or a draped neckline softening a button-down blouse.

While bold dresses once again headline the collection, the season’s statement- making separates like asymmetric wrap skirts, sash-tie tops and relaxed-fit trousers are created to be layered for maximum impact.

Key looks for the season include the Utopia Lace Coat paired with its matching Utopia Lace Dress; the Binded Shirt, Calla Tailored Blazer, Calla Bomber Jacket, Calla Bomber Jacket and Angled Front Culottes or the Contrast Crossover Top and Verdant Draped Skirt.

The collection will be available progressively in stores and online in August 2016.

UNIQLO LifeWear Fall/Winter 2016

For someone like me who loves fashion and apparels, I was elated to receive the media invite to preview Uniqlo LifeWear Fall/Winter 2016 collection.  Even though Singapore does not experience the winter season, it is always interested to see the interpretation of fashion for Fall/Winter through the eyes of fashion brands.

The media preview was held in Museum of Contemporary Arts (MoCA) which is spacious with white walls and a high ceiling, which makes it easy for showcasing of the latest Uniqlo fashion designs.

With my blogger friend Shaun Ow-Yeong at the Press Preview.  Can't wait to check out the latest collection from Uniqlo!
UNIQLO believes that individuality in fashion comes from within. It's how you wear your clothes not the clothes themselves. So, the focus is on the wearer. The more comfortable your apparel is, the more people will want to wear it.

The LifeWear Fall/Winter 2016 collection presents situations that are familiar to us all in daily living, with items and fashion coordination ideas that work perfectly for each occasion.

Essentials

A range of quality basics that embody UNIQLO's ongoing quest for perfection
Jeans, chino pants, cotton shirts, and knitwear are essentials for the wardrobes of everyone, everywhere. UNIQLO's essentials allow people to express themselves naturally whenever and wherever they want to, striving for perfection in basics that match a desire for fashion that works effortlessly in all sorts of situations.

Work

Workwear styling is becoming more versatile as work practices and environments become more diverse. Nonetheless, we should always aim to look our best. UNIQLO offers numerous items in neat and minimalist styles that complement personalities while keeping people smart and comfortable all day long.

I love how versatile the workwear range is as we can layer pieces and mix and match pieces together for different looks.

Sport

More and more people are putting in a visit to the gym, park or yoga studio before their days begin in the office or at home. They want clothing that works well all day in those situations. UNIQLO therefore has created an array of functional items that do just that- employing fabrics that either wick away sweat, dry quickly, retain or dissipate heat, block out the wind, repel water, or most importantly, are breathable and lightweight. While keeping people comfortable as they keep fit, the clothing also looks great when going out to town. Combining healthy functionality, great looks and comfort is quintessentially UNIQLO.

I have my eyes on that pink lightweight jacket and pastel purple cropped top!

Travel

The range of Fall/Winter staples such as HEATTECH, Ultra Light Down, Fleece and Cashmere work perfectly on their own for light autumn or layered up for the wintertime. Whether you are traveling for business or for leisure, packing is one less thing to worry about when on the move with UNIQLO.

These models are so tall!

Playtime

Comfortable clothing that enables kids to satisfy their curiosity. Kids are bundles of curiosity. They are constantly looking for things to try and have a seemingly endless appetite for adventure. UNIQLO offers an array of items to keep kids comfortable and safe as they explore everything around them.

So cool!  I love the Playtime range cos I have two boys who are active and this range is just nice for them as it is super comfortable when they run around.
I was telling Shaun that too bad I do not have a daughter. If not, I would dress her up in this cute little grey dress

Pretending to be kids... lol!

INES DE LA FRESSANGE

The Ines de La Fressange Collection is the fruit of a collaboration between a paragon of Parisian chic and UNIQLO, under the leadership of UNIQLO Design Director Naoki Takizawa. The partnership draws on Ines' expert understanding of UNIQLO’s LifeWear concept and her keen insights into quality and fashion to enhance feminine beauty. This season's collection offers a sophisticated blending of styles that journey beyond the boundaries of contemporary trends, in the quest to create clothing that enhances comfort and beauty and which Ines herself will be happy to wear.
The line evokes the fusion of bourgeois styles and Left Bank culture in the late 1960s that transformed fashion in Paris and around the world.

Featuring a grey seasonal palette
The core hues for this season are grey gradations, including dark and charcoal. Coats, knits, and shirts incorporate bright blue and red accents. Augmenting Ines signature navy colour with grey adds depth to her Parisian flair.

Informed by traditional uniforms
The Fall/Winter 2016 collection features postman and hunting jackets and other items inspired by a Left Bank repurposing of traditional uniforms that highlight svelte figures. A fresh, effortless blending of the new and the conventional is perfectly in sync with Ines' love of vintage uniforms.

CARINE ROITFELD

Carine Roitfeld has greatly influenced the fashion industry as the iconic and charismatic originator and chief editor of the CR Fashion Book. This season's collaboration between Ms. Roitfeld and UNIQLO, under the leadership of UNIQLO Design Director Naoki Takizawa, highlights a working girl’s chic aesthetic, combining high-quality fabrics and sophisticated cuts to accentuate beauty.

Outfitting the working girl
This third seasonal collaboration offers everything a busy woman needs, from knits and suits to tights, belts, and other accessories. The outerwear range features more variations in coats either with masculine tailoring or feminine cuts for waistlines and backs. The lineup also includes items with faux fur accents. All of the outerwear underscores feminine fortitude and dignity.

Complementing basic black with accent colors and prints
This season, the range employs in-trend rose pink and khaki as accents for its basic black themes. The prints feature more colour and pattern variations to complement Carine's feminine minimalist approach to styling for busy women, including her signature leopard, tiger, and botanical motifs.

I love the leopard prints on this jacket!

So cool right?

This is another piece that I like from this range. Leather jacket that channels a mix of masculine tailoring or feminine cuts

Uniqlo U

What we wear to live it deserves more thought, more simplicity, and more care. At Uniqlo's Paris research and development center, the global design team - led by Christophe Lemaire - is reinventing basics to be anything but basic.

The first Uniqlo U collection has been created with Christophe Lemaire’s dedicated Paris team and was unveiled in Paris in early July.
Uniqlo U features innovations while keeping the LifeWear philosophy of providing comfortable clothing that matches all lifestyles.
