I was very thankful that Lucille, co-founder of L'Espace invited me to try out their Signature Slimming Peeling/Wrap body treatment.  In fact Lucille is my Aunt's good friend since secondary school and they hang out together a fair bit and even came to our family gatherings too.  I remembered seeing Lucille before but I didn't have a chance to chat with her as I was busy with the kids and I thought she could be one of our distant relatives since she was at our family gatherings.

We had a good chat when I visited L'space Sante on 17 Aug 2016 for the treatment.  It was where I knew Lucille had been in the beauty industry for many years.  She mentioned that her customers who came to her for treatments are now bringing their children for treatments too.

There are actually two branches by L'Espace.

L’Espace is headed by Lucille and her co-founder, former Sothys trainers, so customers can be assured of the most suitable Sothys customized treatments and home care regimes.

Partner Salon of Sothys Paris

L'Espace use only the best treatments from Sothys Paris. Originated from France, it has the widest range of specialised treatments to deal with every skin issue. Most of these are exclusively developed for use by trained beauticians.

In Singapore, L-Espace is the only skin care salon headed by former Sothys Paris trainers.

I can totally understand why customers come back for facial or body treatments... Lucille is such a friendly and sweet lady!  Even though she is the co-founder of two salons, she was so patient in explaining the Slimming Peeling/Wrap Body Treatment and answering all my questions.

I must say that the salon is very well designed making use of the high ceiling structure to create a magnificent feel to the environment.

With the clever use of colours and lightings, the salon provides a cozy atmosphere which customers feel comfortable in.

The passenger way leads to the four treatment rooms where customers have their treatments done.  One of the rooms has two beds, which is suitable for couples or mothers bringing their daughters along to do treatments together.

Just look at the ceiling... uniquely designed!

The Signature Slimming Peeling/Wrap Body Treatment helps to exfoliate the skin, drain toxins out and decongests the skin.  It also promotes lipolytic action and boosts the effectiveness of skincare products.

The key ingredients in the Sothys product used for this treatment are marine salts(fine) + lactic acid (AHA), bitter orange extract and zeolite (mineral) to achieve the above actions.

When the beautician applied the product onto my body, it feels grainy and has a warming effect upon application.

The beautician performed exfoliation using kneading movements, starting from my legs, working up to the back of my body, then the front for about 10 minutes.

After that, I was wrapped in transparent film and a heating blanket for 20 mins before I rinsed myself under the shower.

The result was awesome!  My skin felt so smooth and silky after the treatment that I couldn't help but feel the texture of my skin on my arms over and over again.

Thanks L'Espace for the wonderful body treatment!

Also, L'Espace is so kind to extend 10% discount off any treatments for my readers as long as you quote my name 'Elaine Heng'.

Below are the address of L'Espace Sante and the contact details.  Call to make your appointment so that you can also enjoy the wonderful treatments offered. :)

Don't be deceived by the no frill, simple shopfront which House of Traditional Javanese Massage located at 598B Sembawang Road has.  Inside the shophouse lies a Bali inspired sanctuary which offers authentic traditional Javanese massage services like no others.  I was very lucky to be approached by the great people from House of Traditional Javanese Massage to try out their massage services together with my Kaiser boy.

House of Traditional Javanese Massage

Before the start of our body massages, I had to fill up a form so that the assigned masseur can take note of any contraindication/s.

Kaiser looking on while mummy filled up the form

This was the second time Kaiser was sponsored a body massage together with me.  He was super excited as he looked forward to the day.  When i picked him up from his childcare centre, he was still having his nap.  But the moment I whispered to him that we were going for a massage now, he opened his eyes immediately to pack his school bag to leave... lol.

I am thankful that even since I started to be active on social media, many sponsors are coming forward to pamper me with their awesome services.  And just nice, House of Traditional Javanese Massage offered to do a body massage for Kaiser boy.  As a single mum, I must say I am a very lucky person with so much love from everyone.

My birthday is around the corner anyways, so let this be the start of a relaxing pre-birthday celebration!  At the same time, going for massages together is a great mummy and son bonding activity!

Kaiser can't wait to go for his massage
The interior gave me a feeling that I was transported to Bali straightaway with the clever use of decorative pieces and lighting.

The foot reflexology area
Let's take a look at the individual rooms for massages.  House of Traditional Javanese Massage has cleverly segregated massage rooms for males and females.  Hence especially for Malays, this would be a great place for massage services.

I love the effort used to decorate the room to look as if one is in Bali!
My Kaiser boy getting ready for his massage.  He knew exactly what to do when the masseur asked him to lie down with his face downwards into the hole.

Kaiser was given a relaxing body massage for children as he was too young for other types of body massage.  I was so glad that Kaiser got to enjoy the massage after House of Traditional Javanese Massage explained the benefits as stated below.

Massage Therapy for Children

Massages for children offers a variety of health benefits. The touch stimulates the body in positive ways to help it grow and develop.

Gentle strokes are administered on the child’s legs, toes, feet, arms, fingers, chest and back.  Repeated strokes and motions are used with alternating hands.  Other techniques including flattened palms, fingers slipping through grasps and tiny circling motions are administered.

Benefits of Child Massage Therapy
  •        Holistic approach towards a childs’ good health
  •        Promotes blood flow and harmonises the workings of the organs.
  •       Stimulates Motor Development
  •       Eases tension and pain in developing muscles that make motor skills possible
  •       Stimulates Cognitive Development
  •       On a long term basis, it enhances physical fitness and immunity
  •      Happier and Calmer Children

Kaiser getting ready for his body massage
As for myself, after a discussion with the masseur on my sore muscles after a gym workout the day before, I decided to go for deep tissue javanese massage.

 What is Javanese Massage?

A system of massage that uses all parts of the hand, including the knuckles, to knead and massage the muscles. This massage works on the muscles and nerves to relieve tension, back pain and aid in the healing of fractures.  The pushing and stroking techniques predominate.  We rely upon deep thumb pressures pushing, pressing and circling along and around the body's energy meridians to break down tensely knotted muscles and to stimulate the body's lymphatic system into releasing its self regenerative power. The deep thumb pressure is accompanied with simultaneous stroking palm movements, squeezing and pushing against the skin and veins to improve blood circulation.

The Benefits of Indonesian Javanese Massage

  • The blood circulation gets improved and assistance is given to the lymphatic system by helping to eliminate the waste produced by the body.
  • It helps easing of tension, stiffness and pain, makes breathing better and helps to circulate the blood better.
  • This massage can stimulate and calm the nervous system, reducing fatigue and the leaves the receiver feeling more rejuvenated.
  • Relief from headaches, stiff neck, backaches, sore feet and fatigue
  • Boost energy to the body
  • Speedier recovery after birth
  • It can help tone the abdominal skin and to warm and soothe the internal organs and muscle
  • Help support the lower back and flatten the tummy
  • To get rid of wind in the body

My turn to get ready for my body massage

Both our massages took about 60 mins.

Verdict: I love the deep tissue Javanese massage as it was able to kneel my sore and achy muscles at various points.  Oh boy... it was so gratifying to get my body pressed,  kneeled and rolled to ease the pain away.

As for Kaiser boy, he was happy after the body massage because he felt relaxed and loved the gentle massage strokes which made him want to fall asleep.  The masseurs adored him so much that they offered him slices of strawberry cakes which happened to be his favorite as well.  He was throughly enjoying himself throughout the whole experience.  It warmed my heart to see him smiling happily.

Special thanks to the awesome people behind House of Traditional Javanese Massage for pampering Kaiser boy and myself.  We are totally grateful for the love!

And yes, we are a bunch of fun loving people too!

Thanks to the good people in JOYRE TCMedi Spa, Kaiser boy and I were invited to try out The TCMedi Spa Therapy (also known as the Ancient Royal Herbs Bath) at JOYRE TCMedi SPA located at Blk 283, Bishan Street 22, #01-175.  This is also their flagship store.

When I told Kaiser a few days ago that mummy would be bringing him for a body massage, he was elated as that he told his teacher and his classmates that his mummy would be bringing him to one after school.  His teacher thought that Kaiser was pulling her leg and asked me if it was the case... hahaha!

Even though I do not lead a fairytale life, I am indeed a very blessed single mummy with many sponsors working together with me and pampering my boy with an amazing experience.  Thanks so much from the bottom of my heart!

JOYRE TCMEDI SPA

Marking their 11th Year Anniversary milestone, the recently rebranded JOYRE has become a holistic healthcare brand in their own right, presenting a myriad of new Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatments that focus on creating healthy, lively and joyful family lives.

As a leading healthcare brand, JOYRE understands that modern day commitments and lifestyles have become the common cause of deterioration to the body.

And while a typical spa offers treatments like facials, massages, baths using basic ingredients, JOYRE’s treatments are a combination of proven TCM remedies with modern technology, complimented with specially selected Chinese herbs.

Primarily focusing on young families and pregnant moms, JOYRE provides customised treatments based on their common physical constitutions and lifestyles.

The TCMedi Spa Therapy helps to remove body dampness, improve woman's related ailments, detoxification, poor digestion, rheumatism & insomnia. It also helps in promoting blood circulation and strengthen the body immune system.

Getting ready to soak into the bath tub filled with herbal water
Using more than 10 different types of herbal remedies, Joyre are the first beauty group in Singapore specializing in the Millennium ancient herbs bath inherited from the Yao ethnic group ancestors.

The curious Kaiser looked at the bath tub filled with the herbal water and wondered what we would be doing next.
Kaiser was very curious with the big tub
Everyone said my Kaiser is so handsome, like a Korean star... lol.
According to the masseur, the water temperature of the herbal bath is best kept at 40-42 degree celsius.

The water thermometer that comes in the shape of a fish.
After we changed into our disposable undergarments, the first step was to have a soak in the herbal bath.

At first, my Kaiser boy didn't dare to go into the tub as he was scared of the hot water.  So mummy had to demonstrate to him that it was ok by stepping into the tub first.  After cajoling him with the water thermometer that came in a fish shape, he decided to step into the tub but he didn't dare to soak himself into the herbal water yet.

Kaiser playing happily with the water thermometer
My Kaiser boy started playing catch the fishes game in the water.

I tried to help him get accustomed to the water temperature by pouring a bit of water on his body.

My Kaiser boy also helped to pour some herbal water onto me as well.

And finally he decided that it was more fun to be soaked in the water while trying to find the 'fishes'. Mummy applauded him for his courage as this was the first time he tried hot herbal bath.

A round of applause for Kaiser!
Mummy entertained him with the toys so that he could stop moving around and remained soaked inside the bath tub to get the maximum benefits.

Why is it an advantage to soak in JOYRE TCMedi Spa herbal bath?  Let's take a look at the origin.

For over a millennium, the recipe for this bath was passed down across generations, only to the women within the Yao ethnic group. It was with this bath that the caregivers kept themselves and their family healthy.

Over time, it received many revisions and improvements, with most renditions listing over 30 Chinese herbs.

Taking their own spin at improving the recipe, the JOYRE-improved concoction contains over 50 Chinese herbs, all carefully handpicked to treat all the organs in the body, by cleansing the body while washing away fatigue to restore vitality and health.

Frequent dips in this prized bath can even aid in countering gynaecological, rheumatism and skin diseases, insomnia and thyroid fever, while stimulating blood circulation, relaxing muscles and joints, wiping out fatigue and heightening resistance to the common cold while dispelling wind, dampness and common diseases.

To make the bath a more relaxing one, customers are free to get out of the bath for sips of complimenting herbal tea before getting back into it once again.

After about 10 minutes, Kaiser boy went for his body massage while I continued to soak for another 5 mins, before I came out of the tub to drink a herbal drink before going back to the tub to soak into another freshly brew herbal concortion.  15 minutes later, I repeated the above procedure again.

According to the masseur, the hot herbal bath opens up the pores of the skin, allowing the goodness of the herbs to force the coldness out of the body.

Soaking happily in the big tub

While I was enjoying my herbal bath therapy before my massage, Kaiser boy was enjoying his body massage in another room.  Joselyn told me that Kaiser was very obedient and when the masseur asked him to lie down with his face facing down, he did that correctly.

I believe that body massage is very good for kids as it helps them to relax and improve blood circulation which is crucial for kids' growth.
The masseur applying adequate pressure on Kaiser to improve his blood circulation

I too had my body massage after soaking into the herbal bath and it was so relaxing that I almost fell asleep.  It had been a while since I had a body massage.  The experience was very enjoying as the masseur kneeled my knots and aches away.

The very happy mummy and son after the TCMedi Spa Therapy.  I felt totally relaxed and sleepy after my body massage and had a very good rest that night.  Kaiser slept well too.
